CAD Modeling and Drafting using Fusion 360 (Workshop)

This workshop is designed to equip students with essential skills in modern Computer-Aided Design (CAD). This workshop will provide hands-on exposure to 3D modeling, parametric design, assembly creation, and technical drafting using Autodesk Fusion 360, one of the most widely used tools in the design and manufacturing industry. The session will help students develop a strong foundation in digital design workflows, enabling them to visualize, simulate, and document engineering components effectively. The workshop was conducted online, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for all participants. After participating in this workshop, students will be able to understand CAD fundamentals, develop 3D Modeling skills, generate detailed engineering drawings, learn assembly & visualization, improve problem-solving & design thinking and enhance career & project readiness.

CAD Design Event - CADATHON – Sketch the Spark, Draft the Future

CAD Student Club of Chamos Matrusantha Department of Mechanical Engineering organised a competition of modelling and assembly of components using Solidworks software titled "CADATHON" on 18th September, 2025 for Mechanical Engineering students from various universities across the Anand region. The event was organized with our industrial partner Engineering Technique, Vadodara. The theme of the event was "Sketch the Spark, Draft the Future", focusing on testing students' creativity, speed, and design thinking skills in CAD modeling within a limited time frame. The event received enthusiastic participation with students showcasing innovative design solutions. The competition created a healthy environment of learning, collaboration, and competitive spirit. Mr. Gaurav Patel from Engineering Technique was invited for evaluation and judging the event. The total prize pool of ₹ 6500 was awarded to the winners, and certificates were distributed to all participants.

Numerical Modeling of Welding and Additive Manufacturing (Expert Talk)

This expert talk on "Numerical Modeling of Welding and Additive Manufacturing" on August 25, 2025, for second, third, and final year B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering students. The session was delivered by Dr. Amit Arora, Associate Professor in the Materials Engineering Department at IIT Gandhinagar, who also leads the Advanced Materials Processing Research Group. During the session, Dr. Arora provided an in-depth overview of the fundamentals and applications of numerical modeling in understanding welding and additive manufacturing. Through case studies and examples from his research group, he showcased how numerical simulations are used to design new alloys, optimize printing strategies, and achieve high-performance components. The talk concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging Dr. Arora's efforts in sharing his expertise and motivating students to explore research in welding, additive manufacturing, and simulation-based engineering.

In a continued effort to align academic excellence with the evolving needs of the industry, CHARUSAT remains committed to preparing students for real-world challenges. Recognizing the importance of staying current with technological advancements, the university also ensures its faculty members continuously upgrade their technical knowledge. As part of this initiative, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, under the aegis of CHAMOS Matrusanstha, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "SOLIDWORKS Modelling & Simulation" from June 02–06, 2025, in collaboration with Engineering Technique, Vadodara. The sessions were led by experts including Mr. Nilesh Wakode, Industry Consultant Manager at Dassault Systèmes India, and three professionals from Engineering Technique — Mr. Ashutosh Rajput (Design Expert – Technical Lead), Mr. Dhruval Parmar (Application Engineer – CAD), and Mr. Gaurav Patel (Application Engineer – Simulation). The week-long FDP aimed to enhance the technical proficiency of faculty members in advanced 3D modelling and simulation techniques using SOLIDWORKS. The program included hands-on sessions, demonstrations, and case studies tailored to bridge the gap between academic instruction and industrial practices.

CHAMOS Matrusanstha Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a one-day workshop on "CAD Modeling & Drafting" on 12th April 2025. The sessions of workshop were conducted by Mr. Naimesh Shetiya, Managing Director, Sopan Institute of Engineering & Design and Founder & Director, Jenik Engineering Services and Dr. Punit Patel, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. 509 participants from the Second Semester of B.Tech. CE/IT/CSE/AIML/EC have participated in the workshop. The sessions explore techniques of how to make modelling and drafting for engineering components using CAD software such as Fusion 360 & SolidWorks. It also discovers how to make part and assembly drawings for various engineering objects. Moreover, it explores the concept of rendering and animation concepts to demonstrate the object.

Industrial Visit at Adani Industries

Industrial Visit at Adani Industries (Power, Solar, Wind, Wilmar, Port, SEZ), at Mundra, Kuchh

The CHAMOS Matrusanstha Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized two day industry visit at various Adani Industries (Power, Solar, Wind, Wilmar, Port, SEZ) at Mundra, Kutchh, during 4th & 5th April, 2025 under Project Udan scheme of Adani Foundation. Total 47 students of B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering 4th & 6th semester and M.Tech. AMT 2nd semester along with 4 staff members have participated in this visit. Adani Group is a diversified organisation in India comprising 10 publicly traded companies. It has created a world class transport and utility infrastructure portfolio that has a pan-India presence. Students gained insights into the functioning and integration of advanced technologies used in thermal power generation, port logistics, oil refining, and solar power production. The visit enhanced students' understanding of mechanical engineering applications in industrial environments, boosting their interest and readiness for future industry roles.

This webinar was carried out by the expert Mr. Vipul Hingu, Khodiyar CAD Center Pvt. Ltd. for first year mechanical and electrical students. Expert talk included various topics viz. Introduction about Fusion 360 Software, Overview of other CAD Softwares, 2D Sketching and 3D modeling, Drafting of the object, Assembly Drawing, Rendering, etc. Total forty four students had participated in webinar.

Research Trends in Advanced Materials Workshop

Research Trends in Advanced Materials (Workshop)

In this workshop research scholars, faculties from various institutes of Gujarat had participated. The expert talks during the workshop were organized to explore the various methods of synthesis & characterization of nanomaterial and applications of nanomaterial. Dr. Ajay M. Sidpara, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Dr. Anand Joshi, GCET, V.V.Nagar, Dr. Vijay Chaudhary, Dr. Mayur Sutaria, Dr. Kamlesh Chauhan, and Dr. Dattatraya Subhedar from CHARUSAT had delivered the expert talk during the workshop. The workshop became a grand success with an active participation of 44 participants.

ESPIRIT CAM software is a global favorite for all types of mechanical applications ranging from small hometown job shops to multifunctional enterprises, client trust ESPRIT to help them create the parts that drive aerospace, medicine, energy, construction, and a host of other industries. This workshop explained briefly the Esprit CAM Interfaces, 2D Geometry, Machine set up, Simulation and Garneting NC Codes. The expert talk was delivered by Mr. Naimesh Shethiya, SOPAN Institute of Engineering & Design. This workshop was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff of mechanical engineering department.

This platform can make students fully equipped for learning and building formula student and Supra-SAE India vehicles. This event was for exploring the knowledge of Electric vehicle and its components used to make EV. Students learns to apply Mathematical modelling and how to simulate any parameters with this mathematical modelling after attending the workshop. Students also learn the factors affecting in the performance of EV.

Solidworks Authorized Training Center (SATC), Sayajigunj is a Pioneer in Parametric modeling education in Vadodara city since past 4 years. This workshop was organized for third year mechanical students with 07 hours discussion and covering major learning modules as Sketch, Part Modeling, Assembly Design and Animation & Drafting. This workshop was very useful for design engineering related subjects and 59 students were enthusiastically participated and got to know more advanced features of software which they might use in their professional studies or in career as well.

LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting, which is preferably used for technical/scientific papers writing for journals by researchers, engineers, and mathematicians at large. The typesetting system offers programmable writing features and extensive facilities for automating most aspects of typesetting. This workshop is organized specifically for first-year students to learn 2D and 3D drafting. Fusion 360 software is selected due to it is a cloud-based 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE platform for product development. The problems of orthographic view and isometric view are solved during this software. Hands-on practice of Fusion 360 software is also carried out during this workshop. The tools in Fusion 360 enable fast and easy exploration of design ideas with an integrated concept-to-production toolset. It combines industrial and mechanical design, simulation, collaboration, and machining in a single package. It gives the best platform to the students to demonstrate their ideas and innovation of their fieldwork of engineering in the form of models using Fusion 360. seminar on "Aluminium-Silicon Cast Alloy: Processing and Characterization"

Al-Si alloys have been found most promising for production of cast components and MMC development for various industrial applications due to its lighter weight. There is a wider scope of improvement in primary and secondary processing of these alloys. The workshop "Research trends in Renewable energy sources" consisting two days including expert talk on the topic by imminent experts from industry as well as academia to throw light upon the need for the alternate energy sources. Mr. Shreelal Jha who has worked since years in the field of wind power generation, who is also inventor of smallest wind power generator, has shared his experience and his journey towards the implementation of such system under the government sector. Dr. Dhaval Vankhade, who has pursued his doctorate in the field of solar thin film development, has shared views on the equipment to produce thin film coating. On the second day of the workshop, a visit to Seva Muni Ashram, Goraj, Vadodara was arranged, where students and the participants could see actual implementation of the renewable sources like solar panels, solar cookers, bio gas plants, sewage system, and all of them were running through the power generated through solar. Furthermore, the interaction between students and experts has helped the participants to clear their thoughts and gave direction of the research area to work upon for their betterment of the future. This workshop did not only spread awareness about the need for renewable sources but also helped to approach for the same with broader view.

In this One week Faculty Development Program, All teaching faculties of CHAMOS Matrusanstha Department of Mechanical Engineering, CHARUSAT had participated. Experts talk and Laboratory session was organized to develop the skill in the various areas like Metal Casting and Composites, Welding Practices for Engineer, CNC Programming.
